Michael Black has been involved in coaching for over 20 years, mainly endurance type sports specialising in running and cycling. Since 1997 Michael has been educating himself in all aspects of Sports Coaching and performance gaining a first class honors degree in Sports Coaching from UUJ Belfast. From 2005 until 2008 Michael worked for Pace Sports Management based in London, the worlds leading sports management and coaching agency. Over 80 athletes from around the world were managed and coached by PACE including Mo Farah and Usain Bolt.
On returning from London Michael moved his current fitness centre to a new 10'000sq state of the art facility. Athletes and teams from all levels gained expertise in strength and conditioning, race preparation, sports science and coaching.
A qualified National coach with Triathlon Ireland since 2009 Michael has worked with numerous age group athletes, national standard athletes, junior development athletes and senior internationals. His current roles are National Development Manager and High Performance coach. Michael also delivers coach education to Triathlon and Athletic coaches as a Coaching Ireland tutor.
An accomplished athlete himself, Michael regularly competes in road races and triathlons around Ireland. Michael's coaching philosophy is based on understanding what the athlete needs, using the latest coaching models and empowering the athlete to know what works best for them. Coaching is an art. built on trust between the athlete and coach.
