Matteo Cigala, is based in Dublin, Ireland. With 22 years of experience in cycling, hundreds of victories in his name, a Business Management Degree (BA) and Diploma in Science and Sports, had a vision of connecting Ireland to the Italian cycling scene, bringing the most advanced and up-to date coaching through his continuous collaborations with the best professional cyclists, teams and coaches.
Matteo, probably the most successful Irish cycling coach of the recent years, started racing at the age of 5, and the highlights of his career are the participation in numerous international races as a team cyclist in the Italian National team and competing in the World Championship 2011 Juniors in Copenhagen, the Paris-Roubaix 2011 Juniors in France, the Trofeo Karlsberg 2011 Juniors in Germany and the Course de la Paix 2011 Juniors where he was able to arrive on the podium in the fifth stage.
Other great results are the victory of the last stage of the Giro Della Lunigiana 2010, the first position at the Gp Eco di Bergamo and the multi-time Lombardia Regional Champion.
In the Irish scene, during the An- Post Ras (UCI 2.2), Matteo finished as a Top County Rider 10 times over the last 3 editions:
On the 2016 edition, on stage 8 (9th place),
On the 2017 edition, on stage 1 (10th place), on stage 2 (4th place), on stage 5 (16th place).
On the 2018 edition, on sage 1 (12th place), on stage 3 (8th place), on stage 4 (2nd place), on stage 5 (4th place), on stage 5 (6th place), on stage 6 (6th place), on stage 8 (6th place).
In 2017, Matteo was the highest Elite ranking domestic rider in Ireland by winning the Cycling Ireland A1 classification.
In 2018, Matteo raced Pro with British Professional Team Holdsworth Pro Racing, partecipating also in China's biggest cycling event, the Tour Of Qinghai Lake.
In November 2016, Matteo Cigala with his athlete Greg Swinanad, broke the Irish Hour Record with 46.860 km/h in the Olympic Training Velodrome of Colorado Springs.
A year after, in November 2018, Greg with again the help of Matteo, they broke again the Irish Hour Record extended by almost 2km with a distance of 48.469km in the Velodromo Bicentenario of Aguascaliente, Mexico.
In 2019 and 2020, Matteo is the Sports Director and Head Of Athlete Performance at Ireland's only UCI professional cycling team EvoPro Racing.
Finally, in 2021, Matteo is back racing in the E-Sport Zwift Platform and currently sitting in the top 5 of World Ranking.
